Certification ISO 50001
At the end of the year, FINIDR underwent another TÜV surveillance audit, the third in a row, which focused on energy and the overall use of energy resources.
The most important energy source for our production technologies is, of course, electricity. To a lesser extent, we also use gas to heat office buildings. Each year, we must prove in the audit that we are demonstrably reducing our overall use of these energy sources. It is a commitment that saves not only energy, but also the environment and, last but not least, the financial burden.
Last year we started using photovoltaic cells, which partially replace our electricity source. At the same time, we are able to use the heat generated by the compressors back into the central heating in the office building. By doing so, we were again able to reduce energy consumption and intensity while producing about the same number of books compared to the last year. Based on the results presented and verified, the auditor rated us very positively, with no findings of non-compliance. In the coming year, we will thus focus on machine care and everyone’s responsibility. In particular, we will focus on our surroundings, which we can personally influence and prevent unnecessary waste of electricity, water, air, material or space. I believe that we can once again improve and maintain the trend of reducing our energy consumption.
Changes in the field of Security
We want to place great emphasis on occupational health and safety field, fire protection and occupational hygiene, which is why we have changed the provider of these services since September this year.
A new team of experts with more than 10 years of experience in these fields will be providing this service. We regularly meet with these colleagues twice a week.
We are now primarily involved in the overall review of documentation and carry out systematic checks on operations, focusing on the areas mentioned above.
With many certifications and increasing number of machines, premises or people, there is always room for improvement. All of this must be supported by compliance and discipline from all of us. We only have one health.
