Did you know that the deepest abyss in the world is only an hour’s drive from Česky Těšín?
And that near this attraction are the warmest caves in the whole Czech Republic?
Anyone who wants to see these with their own eyes and taste a few mineral springs should head to Teplice nad Bečvou.
I invite you to visit the Hranice Abyss and the Zbrašov Aragonite Caves. These interesting places are located in the picturesque valley of the Bečva River and are a great tip for a day trip. You can start with entering the cave, which is open every day from spring to autumn. You’ll be in for a bit of mystery when you see that some of the cave’s passages are marked “GAS LOCKED”. But don’t worry. The cavers have everything under control and the hour-long tour is definitely worth it. Since the average temperature in the caves is 14 degrees, you definitely won’t be cold here.
Afterwards, you can take a short walk through the spa park to the Hůrka preserve and climb up to the Hranice Abyss. It is the deepest flooded abyss in the world with the last verified figure of 519.5 metres (scientists estimate that the depth may be several kilometres).
The experience of the visit is enhanced by the beautiful setting of the fragrant forest and the views of the spa town. You can make a nice trip even more enjoyable by refreshing yourself from the freely available mineral springs (we came across 5 springs in total). The best of them tastes like a „tuned“ Mattoni mineral water (Janáček’s spring).
